About the Show
Produced by China Oriental Performing Arts Group, The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting is a groundbreaking stage production inspired by the Northern Song Dynasty masterpiece A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains—a nearly 1,000-year-old scroll recognized as a national treasure in China and prohibited from leaving the country.
This poetic dance drama reimagines the legacy of the young prodigy Wang Ximeng, capturing the passion and artistry he poured into the monumental work. Told through the eyes of a modern-day museum researcher who travels back in time, the performance bridges past and present, blending tradition and innovation.
Since its premiere in 2021, the production has been staged more than 700 times to sold-out audiences. It became a cultural sensation after its "Green Waist" performance aired on China's 2022 Spring Festival Gala, garnering over 3 billion views.
The 2025 North America tour marks the production's first large-scale international appearance, with stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Houston.
